Didier Saint Julien, Cyberstalking, Ohio 2024
A Youngstown man has been accused of cyberstalking, leaving a trail of harassment and intimidation on social media. Didier Saint Julien, 45, was indicted in federal court on a charge of cyberstalking, according to court documents.
The indictment alleges that Saint Julien began stalking, harassing and intimidating someone in April 2018. He made numerous comments on the victim's Facebook and Instagram page, and attempted to make physical contact with the victim on multiple occasions. Court documents also reveal that Saint Julien took pictures of the victim's car and attempted to contact the victim's relatives.
The victim successfully sought a civil stalking protection order, commanding Saint Julien not to initiate or have any contact with the victim or the victim's relatives. However, the next day, Saint Julien texted the victim, according to court documents.
In May 2019, Saint Julien began creating social media accounts under a false name and attempted to contact the victim again, according to court documents. The investigation preceding the indictment was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Yasmine Makridis.
An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government's burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Didier Saint Julien is accused of cyberstalking, a charge that carries a sentence to be determined by the Court after review of factors unique to this case, including the defendant's prior criminal record, if any, the defendant's role in the offense and the characteristics of the violation. If convicted, the sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum and in most cases will be less than the maximum.
The case is ongoing, and a trial date has not been set.
