Dominic Romano, Child Pornography, Louisiana 2021
A federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Louisiana has charged 20-year-old Dominic Romano, a resident of Luling, Louisiana, with possession of images and videos depicting the sexual exploitation of children under the age of twelve years old.
The indictment, which was handed down on April 9, 2021, alleges that Romano possessed files containing the sexual victimization of minors, in violation of 18 U.S.C. ' 2252(a)(4)(B).
Romano faces a maximum term of imprisonment of twenty (20) years, a lifetime of supervised release, a $250,000 fine, and he can be required to register as a sex offender.
U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans reiterated that an indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the U.S. government.
U.S. Attorney Evans praised the work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in investigating this matter. Assistant United States Attorney Jordan Ginsberg is in charge of the prosecution.
Romano's case is a stark reminder of the serious consequences of possessing and distributing child pornography.
