Akron man Dorian McGhee, 29, has been indicted for his alleged involvement in a firearms trafficking ring that also dealt in carfentanil, fentanyl, and methamphetamine.

According to the indictment, McGhee possessed the drugs on April 17, 2019, as well as two 9 mm handguns. The indictment charges McGhee with one count of possession of firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking, one count of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and carfentanil, and one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

The investigation into McGhee's activities was led by the Akron Police Department Narcotics Unit, the Akron Police Department SWAT Unit, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher J. Joyce is prosecuting the case.

An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is entitled to a fair trial in which it will be the government's burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
