ST. LOUIS, MO - A shocking case of exploitation has come to a close as United States District Judge John A. Ross sentenced Dr. Ashu Joshi to 96 months in prison for distributing child pornography.

The 48-year-old St. Louis resident had pleaded guilty in September, and the sentence was handed down in response to the egregious crimes committed by Dr. Joshi.

According to the investigation, Dr. Joshi began a relationship with a 16-year-old Kentucky girl whom he met through her mother, a former patient of the doctor's in Kentucky. The doctor and the victim had sex and took pornographic pictures, exchanging photos over Facebook messenger between August and September 2018.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received four cyber-tips regarding Dr. Joshi in October 2018, which were initially directed to the Bowling Green, Kentucky Police Department. The case was then handed over to the St. Louis County Police after investigators learned that Dr. Joshi resided in St. Louis County.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, St. Louis County Police, and the Regional Computer Crimes Education and Enforcement Group conducted a thorough investigation that gathered crucial evidence leading to the charges against Dr. Joshi.

Assistant United States Attorney Colleen Lang and Investigator Donya Jackson handled the case for the United States Attorney's Office, bringing Dr. Joshi to justice for his heinous crimes.
