Dulton Earl Johnson, Assault Resulting In Serious Bodily Injury, Idaho 2014
A Fort Hall man has been found guilty of brutally abusing his infant daughter, leaving her with a laundry list of injuries.
According to authorities, Dulton Earl Johnson, 23, physically assaulted the 19-month-old girl on multiple occasions between July 30, 2013, and September 2, 2013. The assaults resulted in 11 different bone fractures and other serious injuries.
The disturbing case came to light when the infant was taken to Primary Children’s Hospital in Utah for surgery on the most recent fracture. An investigation by the Fort Hall Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) uncovered the shocking truth.
In an interview with law enforcement officers, Johnson admitted to causing the injuries. He was subsequently indicted by a federal grand jury on September 10, 2013.
Johnson pleaded guilty yesterday to assault resulting in serious bodily injury, a charge punishable by up to ten years in prison, a maximum fine of $250,000, and three years of supervised release.
Sentencing is set for November 19, 2014, before Chief U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill at the federal courthouse in Pocatello. The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of protecting our most vulnerable citizens.
The investigation was handled by the Fort Hall Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).
