A Moore couple has been sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison for their roles in an armed bank robbery.
Duncan Eric Herron, II, 32, and Regenea Carol Berry, 31, of Oklahoma City, were sentenced collectively for their roles in the May 20, 2019, robbery of an International Bank of Commerce branch in Moore.
U.S. Attorney Timothy J. Downing praised the collaboration of federal, state, and local law enforcement officials in the case, saying, 'This case highlights the capabilities and collaboration of our federal, state, and local law enforcement officials. It also shows that those who menace our community, especially with firearms, will be held accountable. Simply put, this aggression will not stand.'
Herron and Berry were charged by criminal complaint on May 20, 2019, after entering the bank wearing all black clothing and masks. Herron racked the slide of a firearm and the couple intimidated bank employees, ordering them to the ground and demanding money.
A search at a residence linked to the couple on May 18 turned up evidence connecting them to the robbery, and they were arrested thereafter. A federal grand jury indicted Herron and Berry on June 19, 2019, and they pleaded guilty on July 22, 2019, before U.S. District Judge Charles B. Goodwin.
Judge Goodwin sentenced Berry to 70 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, on April 3, 2020, and Herron to 84 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, on May 11, 2020. Both defendants were also ordered to pay restitution to the bank.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation–Oklahoma City Field Office and the Moore Police Department, with Assistant U.S. Attorneys Mary E. Walters and Wilson D. McGarry prosecuting the case.
