Dunyadar Gasanov, Lying to Investigators, Massachusetts 2024
BOSTON, Massachusetts – In a devastating turn of events, the co-owner of Westfield Transport, Inc., Dunyadar Gasanov, has been sentenced for his role in a 2019 crash that claimed the lives of seven motorcyclists in New Hampshire.
Gasanov, also known as Damien Gasanov, 39, was handed a two-month prison sentence, to be followed by one year of supervised release, during which he is prohibited from driving commercially. The government had recommended a sentence of one year in prison.
The crash occurred on June 21, 2019, when one of Westfield Transport's vehicles, driven by a man with a history of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, collided with seven motorcyclists in New Hampshire, resulting in their deaths.
An investigation revealed that Gasanov had falsified driving logs and made false statements to federal investigators in an attempt to evade federal regulations designed to ensure road safety.
Gasanov's actions led to the deaths of seven innocent motorcyclists and left their families to endure the aftermath of this tragedy.
The U.S. Attorney's Office has announced that Gasanov pleaded guilty to three counts of making false statements to federal investigators in August 2024.
The details contained in the indictment are allegations, and the remaining defendant, Dartanyan Gasanov, has pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Neil L. Desroches of the Springfield Branch Office.
