Durrion Joshua Morrison, Cocaine Trafficking, West Virginia 2016
MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – A notorious cocaine trafficker has been brought to justice in the Mountain State. Durrion Joshua Morrison, of Wilmington, Delaware, was indicted by a federal grand jury today on cocaine charges, United States Attorney Bill Powell announced.
Johnson, also known as “Nephew,” age 30, is charged with two counts of “Distribution of Cocaine Base” and one count of “Aiding and Abetting Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine Base.” Johnson is accused of selling cocaine base, also known as “crack,” and possessing more than 28 grams of cocaine base in July 2016 in Berkeley County.
The cocaine base, also known as “crack,” is a highly addictive and potent form of cocaine. The distribution and possession of such a substance can have devastating effects on individuals and communities.
Johnson faces up to 20 years incarceration and a fine of up to $1,000,000 for each distribution count. He faces not less than five years and up to 40 years incarceration and a fine of up to $5,000,000 for the aiding and abetting count.
Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Lara Omps-Botteicher is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government. The Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, investigated.
An indictment is merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
The investigation is a testament to the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies in West Virginia to combat the scourge of cocaine trafficking. The Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force has been instrumental in bringing to justice those who would seek to peddle this deadly substance in our communities.
The case is a reminder that the consequences of cocaine trafficking are severe and far-reaching. Those who engage in such activities can face significant prison time and financial penalties.
