Chesapeake, VA - In a shocking case of public corruption, two former government contracting company co-founders were sentenced for their roles in a five-year bribery scheme.
Dwayne A. Hardman, 44, and Adam C. White, 40, were found guilty of bribery and conspiracy. Hardman, a co-founder of two government contracting companies, Company A and Company B, sought business from the United States Navy Military Sealift Command (MSC).
According to court documents, Hardman and White provided more than $265,000 in cash bribes to two public officials working for MSC, in an illegal effort to influence those public officials to provide favorable treatment to their companies in connection with US government contracting work.

As part of their guilty plea, Hardman admitted that he threatened to report the bribery activities to law enforcement authorities if his co-conspirators did not provide him money. In total, Hardman admitted that he received approximately $85,000 from his co-conspirators in exchange for not reporting the bribery scheme.
