Published September 10, 2021

Dwayne Anthony Conley, a 52-year-old resident of Central Islip, New York, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for coercing and enticing multiple women into prostitution, including by physical abuse and exploiting their addiction.

According to the Superseding Information, Conley, a/k/a 'Taquan Rashad,' 'Q,' 'Pops,' convinced, induced, enticed, and coerced five different women to engage in prostitution, using various tactics to manipulate and control them. He exploited one victim's severe heroin addiction, verbally abused another, and used them to further his narcotics trafficking.

Conley's crimes date back to 2015, when he attempted to persuade two women to travel from New York to Virginia to engage in prostitution. He also promoted the prostitution of two additional women, posting advertisements online and providing them with heroin.

In addition to his prison sentence, Conley was also sentenced to five years of supervised release.

The investigation into Conley's crimes was conducted by the FBI-NYPD New York Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, the Suffolk County Police Department's Human Trafficking Investigations Unit, and the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York.

Assistant United States Attorneys Rushmi Bhaskaran, Benjamin Woodside Schrier, and Daniel H. Wolf handled the prosecution of Conley's case.

Conley, whose crimes have been widely condemned, will now face the consequences of his actions. His lengthy prison sentence serves as a reminder of the severity of human trafficking and the devastating impact it has on its victims.

With this conviction, the justice system has taken a major step towards holding perpetrators of human trafficking accountable for their crimes.
