Dylan Kelly, Fentanyl Trafficking, Utah 2023
Two Colorado men, Dylan Kelly, 19, and Navin Daryan Wright, 20, are facing federal charges for their alleged involvement in fentanyl trafficking and firearm offenses in southern Utah.
According to court documents, Kelly and Wright are each charged with possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime in January.
The indictment alleges that the two men were involved in a drug trafficking operation in Utah, and that they possessed a firearm in connection with the crime.
Kelly was arrested on March 20, 2023, and made his initial court appearance before a U.S. Magistrate Judge for the District of Utah in St. George. Wright was arrested on March 15, 2023, and had his initial appearance before a U.S. Magistrate Judge in Grand Junction, Colorado.
U.S. Attorney Trina A. Higgins announce the charges, which are part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) program. The case is being investigated by the Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS); Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) and State Bureau of Investigation (SBI).
Assistant U.S. Attorney, Brady Wilson, is prosecuting the case.
An indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
The case is part of a larger effort to reduce violent crime and gun violence in Utah, and to make the state's neighborhoods safer for everyone.
