Convicted Drug Dealer Flees Halfway House

ALBANY, NEW YORK - In a shocking turn of events, Dyshawn Fisher, a 29-year-old resident of Troy, New York, has pleaded guilty to escaping from the Horizon House Residential Reentry Center on October 1, 2024.

According to authorities, Fisher was serving a 75-month prison sentence for numerous felonies, including possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances. On October 10, 2023, Fisher was transferred to the Horizon House in Albany, where he was supposed to serve the remainder of his sentence in a halfway house setting.

However, on October 1, 2024, Fisher decided to take a drastic measure and left the halfway house without the approval he knew he needed. He remained at large in the community until October 17, 2024, when he was finally apprehended in Cohoes, New York.

Fisher is scheduled to be sentenced by United States District Judge Anne M. Nardacci on April 2, 2025. He faces a maximum term of 5 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and a term of supervised release of up to 3 years.

The United States Marshals Service is investigating the case, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Benjamin S. Clark is prosecuting the case.

Fisher's decision to escape from the halfway house has raised concerns about the effectiveness of the country's corrections system. As the investigation unfolds, it remains to be seen what led Fisher to make such a drastic move.

In the meantime, authorities are breathing a sigh of relief that Fisher is back behind bars, and they are working to ensure that he faces the consequences for his actions.
