A Utah man was sentenced to 30 months in prison for tax fraud, announced the Justice today.
E. Ray Williams, 65, of Park City, Utah, was sentenced to 30 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay $1,047,911 in restitution for tax fraud and tax evasion charges.
According to court documents, E. Ray Williams, a resident of Park City, Utah, filed false tax returns with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for tax years 2011 through 2016, and 2018, and failed to report income from his consulting business.
The investigation revealed that E. Ray Williams failed to report approximately $2,047,911 in income from his consulting business, resulting in a tax loss of $1,047,911 to the United States.
E. Ray Williams was convicted by a jury on January 24, 2024, of one count of tax evasion and five counts of filing a false tax return.
The case was prosecuted by Trial Attorney Matthew J. Grigg of the Tax Division.
The investigation was conducted by the Internal Revenue Service - Criminal Investigation.
