Earnest Parrie Dille, Sex Offender Registry Violation, West Virginia 2019
CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – A man from Morgantown, West Virginia, has admitted to a serious crime that puts children at risk. Earnest Parrie Dille, 63, has pled guilty to one count of 'Failure to Update Sex Offender Registration.'
Dille, a person required to register as a sex offender, is accused of traveling from Idaho to West Virginia without updating his sex offender registration from January 2018 to April 2019. This is a serious offense that could have put children in harm's way.
According to the United States Attorney, Bill Powell, Dille faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. The actual sentence will be based on the seriousness of the offenses and Dille's prior criminal history.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. The project brings together federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.
The case against Dille was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah E. Wagner on behalf of the government. The United States Marshal Service investigated the case.
The case was heard by U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi. Dille's crimes are a reminder of the importance of keeping our communities safe, especially when it comes to children.
