WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA – A brazen disregard for the law has landed two Wheeling men in hot water, as a federal grand jury has indicted them on firearm charges.
At the center of the case are Eban Joseph Keith Beyah, 45, and Charles C. Ansley, Jr., 37, both of Wheeling, West Virginia. Beyah and Ansley have been accused of unlawful possession of a firearm, a crime that could have serious repercussions.
Beyah’s alleged crime is particularly egregious, given his history of burglary and drug-related charges in Commons Pleas Court in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. According to authorities, Beyah was in possession of a 9mm pistol in Ohio County on June 2017, a clear violation of the law.
Ansley’s case is also disturbing, as he has a prior conviction for burglary in Commons Pleas Court in Lucas County, Ohio. The 37-year-old Wheeling man is accused of possessing a .22 caliber revolver in Ohio County on August 2017.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen L. Vogrin on behalf of the government. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Wheeling Police Department are investigating both cases.
An indictment is merely an accusation, and both defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. However, the charges against them are serious and could result in significant penalties if they are convicted.
The case highlights the ongoing struggle to keep firearms out of the wrong hands. As our community continues to grapple with the issue of gun violence, it is essential that we hold those responsible accountable for their actions.
