EDWARD EUSTATE JIMENEZ, Fentanyl Trafficking, New York 2024
Two men have been charged in connection with a massive fentanyl and methamphetamine distribution ring in the Bronx, authorities announced Tuesday. EDWARD EUSTATE JIMENEZ, a/k/a “Chino,” and WILIANYI ALMANZAR POLANCO were arrested yesterday afternoon in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan.
JIMENEZ and POLANCO were presented earlier today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Gary Stein. According to the complaint filed in Manhattan federal court, JIMENEZ and POLANCO conspired to distribute narcotics and distributed narcotics.
The investigation, led by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), uncovered a network of drug traffickers who distributed large quantities of counterfeit prescription drugs using a mail-order system. The drugs distributed included pills colored and pressed to look like prescription oxycodone and Adderall, but were actually laced with fentanyl.
Postal records show that JIMENEZ sent approximately 188 U.S. Postal Service (USPS) packages, including approximately 80 packages that were sent from a post office located in the Bronx. On at least one occasion, he was joined by POLANCO.
The complaint alleges that JIMENEZ and POLANCO were part of a larger organization that distributed deadly narcotics, including fentanyl. Fentanyl is the greatest threat to Americans ages 18-45, and DEA lab analysis has found that 7 out of 10 fentanyl pills contain a potential lethal dose.
U.S. Attorney Damian Williams commended law enforcement partners for their collaboration and focus on arresting drug traffickers bringing the most harm to our communities. The goal of the HSI New York El Dorado Task Force is to disrupt fentanyl production, transportation, and distribution both locally and globally.
