Ex-Airman Charged with Travel Reimbursement Fraud

A former Kansas Air National Guard senior airman has been charged with fraudulently collecting more than $50,000 in travel reimbursements by claiming she lived in Arizona while working at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita.

Eledria J. Bradley, 28, of Wichita, Kansas, is charged with one count of wire fraud. An indictment alleges that Bradley was a member of the Kansas Air National Guard and lived in Wichita in February 2009 when she received orders to prepare for deployment with the U.S. Air Force effective April 11, 2009.

The indictment alleges that Bradley accessed her file via virtual MPF, an online personnel system, and changed her residential address from Wichita to Chandler, Arizona. The change of address placed her outside the commuting distance for McConnell Air Force Base. As a result, she received lodging and per diem benefits to which she was not entitled from April 11, 2009, to April 23, 2011, totaling $54,992.

If convicted, Bradley faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000. The Air Force Office of Special Investigations investigated, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Alan Metzger is prosecuting.

The case is a reminder of the importance of accountability in the military and the consequences of fraudulent behavior. As we continue to uncover cases of corruption and abuse within the armed forces, it is essential to hold individuals accountable for their actions.
