Elijah Antonio Porter, Illegal Possession of a Machinegun, Mississippi 2024

A Gulfport man has been handed a 46-month prison sentence for the illegal possession of a machinegun.

According to court documents, Elijah Antonio Porter, 23, was found in possession of an illegal machinegun during a traffic stop in Gautier, Mississippi, on an unspecified date.

During the traffic stop, law enforcement located a Glock pistol inside the vehicle, and a machinegun device, also known as a switch, was attached to the pistol.

Porter was subsequently charged with the illegal possession of a machinegun, a federal crime.

The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and Gautier Police Department investigated the case, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Hunter McCreight prosecuting the case.

U.S. Attorney Patrick A. Lemon of the Southern District of Mississippi and Special Agent in Charge Joshua Jackson of the ATF announced the sentence in a joint statement.

Porter's sentence was handed down in an unspecified court, with the exact date of the sentencing not provided.
