Elisha Shaleel Patterson, Weapon Violation, South Carolina 2022
CHARLESTON, S.C. —
Elisha Shaleel Patterson, a 21-year-old man from Charleston, has been sentenced to 57 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm by a felon.
According to evidence presented to the court, Patterson was part of a large group of individuals who gathered to gamble on Allway Street in downtown Charleston on April 24, 2022. Investigators were paying close attention to the area after a shooting occurred there the previous day. During their observation, investigators saw Patterson remove a firearm from his pants and place it in a vehicle. Once investigators arrived, they located the firearm, which was reported stolen, a digital scale, and marijuana.
Patterson is federally prohibited from possessing a firearm and ammunition because of his previous felony conviction.
United States District Judge David C. Norton sentenced Patterson to 57 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of court-ordered supervision.
This case is part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program that brings together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Charleston Police Department.
