Elva Ramirez-Lamberto Charged with Illegal Reentry in Louisiana

Elva Ramirez-Lamberto, a 35-year-old Honduran national, has been charged with illegal reentry in Louisiana.

According to a one-count bill of information, Ramirez-Lamberto allegedly reentered the United States on or about September 18, 2018, after having been previously removed therefrom on or about August 31, 2018.

The charge of illegal reentry of a removed alien, in violation of 8 U.S.C. § 1326(a), carries a maximum term of imprisonment of two years, a fine of up to $250,000.00, one year supervised release after imprisonment, and a $100 special assessment.

U.S. Attorney Peter G. Strasser reiterated that a bill of information is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

Strasser praised the work of the United States Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement in investigating this matter. Assistant United States Attorney Irene González is in charge of the prosecution.

Elva Ramirez-Lamberto, Honduran citizen, is facing serious charges in Louisiana. If convicted, she could face up to two years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

This case is a reminder of the importance of immigration laws and the consequences of violating them.
