Elvin Mejia-Guzman, Illegal Re-Entry of a Removed Alien, Louisiana 2025

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – Elvin Mejia-Guzman, 36, was sentenced to time served for illegal re-entry of a removed alien, in violation of Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a).

On March 26, 2025, Mejia-Guzman was found in the United States without authorization from the Attorney General of the United States, after being previously deported on June 21, 2010.

Mejia-Guzman was sentenced by United States District Judge Eldon E. Fallon to time served, along with one year of supervised release and payment of a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.

According to the charging document, Mejia-Guzman's illegal re-entry was discovered by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations, Kenner Police Department, and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson praised the work of the investigating agencies in bringing Mejia-Guzman to justice.

Assistant United States Attorney Jon M. Maestri of the General Crimes Unit prosecuted the case.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that aims to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime.
