Published May 13, 2024

OMAHA, Nebraska - Methamphetamine has wreaked havoc on our communities for far too long, and today, we have a victory in the fight against this scourge. Emeterio Sepulveda-Moreno, a 43-year-old Mexican national, was sentenced to 135 months in prison for his role in a massive methamphetamine distribution ring in Omaha, Nebraska.

According to court documents, Sepulveda-Moreno was involved in a conspiracy to distribute hundreds of pounds of methamphetamine in the Omaha area. On June 22, 2021, law enforcement executed a search warrant on an Omaha residence and found 28 one-pound packages of crystal meth, as well as $18,754 in narcotics proceeds.

A cooperating defendant, who was previously sentenced to 151 months in prison, had been working with Sepulveda-Moreno to distribute the methamphetamine. During a post-arrest interview, the cooperator identified Sepulveda-Moreno as the individual responsible for delivering the methamphetamine to the Omaha area.

Further investigation revealed that Sepulveda-Moreno had delivered the methamphetamine to the cooperator on June 19, 2021, at an Omaha gas station. Surveillance footage from the gas station showed the cooperator giving Sepulveda-Moreno a black suitcase containing drug proceeds in exchange for the methamphetamine.

The $18,754 seized during the investigation had previously been forfeited to the United States as proceeds from narcotics trafficking. Sepulveda-Moreno will serve his 135-month sentence in a federal prison and will be deported to Mexico upon completion of his term.

This case was the result of a joint investigation by Homeland Security Investigations. The sentencing is a significant blow to the methamphetamine distribution ring and serves as a reminder of the consequences of engaging in such criminal activity.

Nebraskans can rest a little easier knowing that Sepulveda-Moreno will be behind bars for a significant amount of time. It's a testament to the tireless work of law enforcement and the justice system that we are able to bring these individuals to justice and keep our communities safe.
