Emile Occean, Methamphetamine Distribution, Pennsylvania 2022

SCRANTON - A Wilkes-Barre man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in distributing methamphetamine in Luzerne County.

Emile Occean, 38, was sentenced to 120 months imprisonment by United States District Court Judge Malachy Mannion on charges of distributing methamphetamine.

According to United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam, Occean distributed methamphetamine in Luzerne County on March 31, 2022, and April 12, 2022.

Occean was deemed to be a career offender for sentencing purposes because he had two prior drug distribution convictions, two robbery convictions and a burglary conviction in his prior record.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jenny P. Roberts prosecuted the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.

On May 26, 2021, the Department launched a violent crime reduction strategy strengthening PSN based on these core principles: fostering trust and legitimacy in our communities, supporting community-based organizations that help prevent violence from occurring in the first place, setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring the results.

Occean's sentence reflects the severity of his crimes and the need to protect our communities from the devastating effects of drug distribution. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania will continue to work tirelessly to hold those responsible for these crimes accountable.
