Pittsburgh Man Charged with Methamphetamine Trafficking

A Pittsburgh man has been charged with methamphetamine trafficking after a traffic stop in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

Eric Gerome Clancy, 38, of Pittsburgh's East Hills neighborhood, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on a charge of violating federal narcotics laws, United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan announced today.

According to the indictment, on or about May 15, 2024, Clancy knowingly possessed with intent to distribute crack cocaine, powder cocaine, and a mixture containing methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Following a stop for traffic violations by Mt. Lebanon police and subsequent search of Clancy's vehicle, officers discovered nine "bricks" containing a mixture of methamphetamine and fentanyl. Officers also recovered from the vehicle several ounces of crack and powder cocaine, as well as a scale, in addition to finding a large amount of U.S. currency on Clancy.

At the time of the offense, Clancy was on federal supervised release following a 90-month sentence in federal prison for a drug trafficking and firearms conviction.

The law provides for a maximum total sentence of up to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $1 million, or both. Under the federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history of the defendant.

Assistant United States Attorney V. Joseph Sonson is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.

The Mt. Lebanon Police Department and Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the investigation leading to the indictment.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.

An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
