BOSTON – A shocking indictment has rocked the quiet streets of Malden, Massachusetts, as two men stand accused of conspiring to distribute large quantities of cocaine.

Erick Sandoval-Perez, a 43-year-old Guatemalan national, and Christhian Castillo, 32, both of Malden, were charged with conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute 500 or more grams of cocaine, as well as distribution of 500 or more grams of cocaine. Sandoval-Perez was also charged with distribution of cocaine. The charges carry a sentence of at least five years and up to 40 years in prison, at least four years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $5,000,000. Sandoval-Perez is subject to deportation upon completion of any sentence imposed.

On February 12, 2025, Sandoval-Perez allegedly arranged to sell a kilogram of cocaine to an undercover law enforcement officer. Castillo was arrested when he allegedly handed the kilogram of cocaine to the undercover, while Sandoval-Perez was apprehended nearby.

United States Attorney Leah B. Foley, along with other law enforcement officials, made the announcement today. Valuable assistance was provided by the Malden Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brendan O’Shea of the Worcester Branch Office is prosecuting the case.
