Published April 27, 2015

Grimy Times has learned that a Honduran national has been charged with illegally reentering the United States after being previously deported.

Eulio Marquez-Chacon, 40, was encountered by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in the Eastern District of Louisiana on March 4, 2015.

According to the indictment, Marquez-Chacon had been previously deported from the United States to Honduras on June 12, 2003.

If convicted, Marquez-Chacon faces a maximum term of imprisonment of two years, a maximum fine of $250,000, a maximum term of supervised release of one year, and a mandatory $100 special assessment.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite reminded the public that an indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

Praise was given to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the New Orleans Police Department for their work in investigating this matter.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Rick Veters has been assigned to prosecute the case.
