Mexican Citizen Pleads Guilty to Misuse of Visas in New York

In a shocking turn of events, Eusebio Chavez-Islas, a 58-year-old citizen of Mexico, pleaded guilty to misuse of visas and was sentenced to time served in a New York court.

The charges against Chavez-Islas stem from an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations, the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office, and the Social Security Administration, Office of the Inspector General.

According to court documents, Chavez-Islas was working at Nesbitt Brothers, LLC when ICE officers received a request for assistance from the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office at 3282 Transit Road in Albion, NY on March 26, 2019.

Upon arrival, ICE officers encountered Chavez-Islas and determined through record checks that he was a citizen of Mexico, illegally present in the United States.

A subsequent investigation revealed that Chavez-Islas had provided a fraudulent social security card to his employer, Nesbitt Fruit Farms, the owner of Nesbitt Brothers, LLC.

The plea and sentencing are the result of an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Kevin Kelly; the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office, under the direction of Sheriff Randy Bower; and the Social Security Administration, Office of the Inspector General, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge John F. Grasso.

Chavez-Islas was sentenced to time served and turned over to the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
