Fancisco Arias, Cocaine and Heroin Distribution, Massachusetts 2016
A cocaine and heroin distributor for the Boston street gang, Columbia Point Dawgs (CPD), was sentenced to a lengthy prison term in federal court in Boston.
Fancisco Arias, 35, of Jamaica Plain, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton to 175 months in prison and five years of supervised release.
Arias pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute over five kilograms of cocaine, and over one kilogram of heroin in May 2016, as part of a larger indictment that involved 48 defendants tied to the CPD.
According to documents filed in court, the CPD was responsible for the distribution of multiple kilo quantities of heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine, and oxycodone throughout Boston and Maine.
Arias was involved in the importation and distribution of at least five kilograms of cocaine and over four kilograms of heroin in Massachusetts, alongside other members and associates of the gang.
The CPD, also known as “the Point,” was Boston’s largest and most influential citywide gang, with roots dating back to the 1980s in the former Columbia Point Housing Development (now Harbor Point).
The gang members established drug trafficking crews throughout Boston, with the CPD allegedly responsible for distributing large quantities of narcotics in the area.
The sentencing comes after a joint effort by law enforcement agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, U.S. Marshal, Massachusetts State Police, Suffolk County Sheriff, Boston Police, and Massachusetts Department of Correction.
These agencies worked together to dismantle the CPD and bring its members to justice, with Arias being one of the latest defendants to face consequences for his involvement in the gang’s activities.
