Fentanyl Charge Lands Rochester Man in Prison

In a move to combat the opioid epidemic, the federal government has secured a major win in the fight against fentanyl trafficking. Felix Figueroa, a 40-year-old resident of Rochester, NY, was sentenced to 96 months in prison for possession with the intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl.

According to officials, Figueroa was convicted of selling cocaine and heroin on multiple occasions to an individual working with investigators. On January 29, 2018, investigators executed a search warrant at Figueroa's home, recovering a quantity of fentanyl and cocaine, as well as 199 bags of heroin, 154 decks of heroin, 576 bags of cocaine, and items commonly used in the packaging and distribution of illegal drugs.

The investigation, led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Violent Crime Task Force, involved multiple agencies, including the Rochester Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Monroe County District Attorney's Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, Greece Police Department, Brighton Police Department, and U.S. Border Patrol.

The sentencing is the result of a lengthy investigation that uncovered Figueroa's illicit activities. Assistant U.S. Attorney Cassie Kocher, who handled the case, stated that the evidence gathered during the investigation was crucial in securing the conviction.
