Felix Wilson, Gun Charge, New York 2017

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Felix Wilson, a 35-year-old man from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, a charge that carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The guilty plea was announced by Acting U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr., who stated that Wilson was found in possession of a .22 caliber revolver on August 22, 2013, while riding a bicycle on East Ferry Street in Buffalo.

Wilson, a convicted felon, is legally prohibited from possessing a firearm. He was previously convicted of Attempted Robbery in the Second Degree in Erie County Supreme Court in May 2011.

The investigation into Wilson's gun possession was conducted by the Buffalo Police Department, under the direction of Commissioner Daniel Derenda, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Ashan Benedict, New York Field Division.

Sentencing is scheduled for March 9, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara.

The plea agreement is the result of an investigation that highlights the importance of strict gun laws and the consequences of violating them.

Felix Wilson, defendant/respondent, will face a sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for his guilty plea.
