A Dauphin County man has been sentenced to 46 months in prison for his role in a fentanyl trafficking operation. Francisco Baez, age 53, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was sentenced on January 15, 2026 by United States District Judge Jennifer P. Wilson for possession with intent to distribute 40 grams and more of fentanyl.
According to United States Attorney Brian D. Miller, Baez pleaded guilty on January 29, 2025 to one count of possession with intent to distribute 40 grams and more of fentanyl. Investigators conducted controlled purchases of fentanyl from Baez during which he sold approximately seven grams of fentanyl to a Confidential Source.
Subsequently, a search warrant was executed and law enforcement recovered approximately 137 grams of fentanyl, over $20,000 cash, and 977 grams of a cutting agent from Baez’s residence.
The matter was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Assistant United States Attorney Scott Ford prosecuted the case.
This case was brought as part of a district wide initiative to combat the nationwide epidemic regarding the use and distribution of heroin. Led by the United States Attorney’s Office, the Heroin Initiative targets heroin traffickers operating in the Middle District of Pennsylvania and is part of a coordinated effort among federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who commit heroin related offenses.
Baez’s sentence is a result of his involvement in the fentanyl trafficking operation, which put numerous individuals at risk of overdose and death. The harsh sentence serves as a reminder of the severe consequences of engaging in such illicit activities.
The United States Attorney’s Office will continue to work tirelessly to combat the opioid epidemic and bring those responsible to justice.
