Francisco Jesus Bravo, Fentanyl Trafficking, Utah 2024

Utah authorities have charged a resident of West Valley City with federal drug crimes after the FBI seized a massive haul of narcotics, including nearly 200,000 fentanyl pills.

A 34-year-old dual citizen, Francisco Jesus Bravo, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Salt Lake City for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute, and possession of heroin with intent to distribute.

The indictment alleges that Bravo became the focus of a criminal investigation by the FBI Wasatch Metro Drug Task Force in April 2024, for allegedly intending to distribute large quantities of narcotics into Utah.

In May 2024, agents seized approximately 19,802 grams of field-tested positive fentanyl, estimated to be around 190,000 pills, as well as a digital scale from Bravo’s storage unit in West Valley City. Additionally, agents seized:

Bravo was arrested as a result of the seizure. His initial appearance on the indictment is scheduled for June 13, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in courtroom 8.4 at the United States District Courthouse in downtown Salt Lake City.

U.S. Attorney Trina A. Higgins of the District of Utah made the announcement.

The case is being investigated by the FBI Wasatch Metro Drug Task Force, and Assistant United States Attorney Seth Nielsen of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Utah is prosecuting the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and making neighborhoods safer.

An indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
