Published October 9, 2020

A Rochester, New York-based federal court has handed down a harsh sentence to Frank Salerno, a 31-year-old Massachusetts man convicted of receiving child pornography.

According to court documents, Salerno engaged in explicit online conversations with a 14-year-old minor from Western New York in 2019. He allegedly induced the minor to produce and send him images of child pornography.

The crime was reported to the police, and Salerno was subsequently arrested in Massachusetts in December 2019.

U.S. Chief Judge Frank P. Geraci, Jr. sentenced Salerno to serve 15 years in prison.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle Rossi handled the case, stating that the defendant's actions were a serious offense against the victim and the community.

The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Child Exploitation Task Force, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Stephen Belongia.

The investigation and prosecution of child pornography cases are crucial in protecting our children from exploitation and abuse.
