Frank Salerno, Racketeering, New York 2018
Long Island, NY - In a major victory for law enforcement, Frank “Frankie Boy” Salerno, a soldier in the Bonanno organized crime family, was sentenced to 60 months imprisonment for racketeering conspiracy in a federal court in Central Islip.
The sentencing, which took place on a superseding indictment charging Gambino and Bonanno members and associates with racketeering conspiracy, marked the conclusion of a long investigation into organized crime activities in the region. Salerno was found guilty of engaging in a racketeering conspiracy between January 2014 and December 2017, during which he routinely collected payments from extortionate loans and gambling-related debts.
According to court documents, Salerno worked closely with his co-defendants, including Anthony Saladino and John “Johnny Boy” Ambrosio, who were previously sentenced to 63 months and 51 months imprisonment, respectively, for their roles in the racketeering conspiracy. The indictment charged the defendants with engaging in a range of illicit activities, including drug trafficking, loan sharking, and gambling.
The investigation, which involved a joint effort between the FBI, ICE, and the Suffolk County Police Department, uncovered a complex web of organized crime activity in the region. Through intercepted conversations and surveillance, law enforcement officials were able to gather evidence of the defendants’ involvement in these activities.
The sentencing of Salerno marks the final chapter in the case, which has been ongoing for several years. The convictions and sentences obtained in this case demonstrate the commitment of law enforcement to rooting out organized crime in the region.
