FREDY ANTONIO MENDOZA-CHIRINOS, Illegal Re-Entry, Louisiana 2019
NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana - A Honduran national has been sentenced for re-entering the United States illegally. FREDY ANTONIO MENDOZA-CHIRINOS, 27, was found guilty of violating Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a), for re-entering the country after being deported in 2017.
On August 14, 2019, MENDOZA-CHIRINOS pleaded guilty to the charge, admitting that he was a citizen of Honduras and had illegally re-entered the United States. He has been incarcerated since November 21, 2018, and was sentenced to time served and a $100 special assessment by U.S. District Judge Martin C. Feldman.
According to documents filed in open court, MENDOZA-CHIRINOS admitted to being a citizen of Honduras and being illegally present in the United States. He further admitted to re-entering the United States after being deported in 2017.
U.S. Attorney Peter Strasser praised the work of the United States Department of Homeland Security in investigating this matter. Assistant U. S. Attorney Carter K. D. Guice, Jr. is in charge of the prosecution.
MENDOZA-CHIRINOS will be surrendered to the custody of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for removal proceedings.
