Tucson, Arizona - On June 29, 2018, a brazen bank robbery shook the streets of Tucson, leaving multiple employees injured and a trail of destruction in its wake.

Jovante Lamar Fryson II, 20, of Gardena, California, Amauje Jason Ferguson, 23, of Inglewood, California, and Tysheere Traymar Ford, 25, of Los Angeles, California, were the masterminds behind the Commerce Bank robbery on East Broadway Road.

The trio, sporting ski masks and gloves, stormed the bank, ordering employees to the floor and physically forcing them to open a teller drawer and the bank vault. The high-speed getaway, which included a stolen vehicle and a Tucson Police officer in hot pursuit, ultimately ended with the co-defendants crashing into an SUV and fleeing on foot.

In a daring manhunt, Tucson Police officers finally apprehended the suspects in a nearby neighborhood. The investigation was a joint effort between the Tucson Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Tucson.

Fryson, Ferguson, and Ford pleaded guilty to bank robbery and conspiracy to commit bank robbery. Their sentences were handed down by U.S. District Judge James A. Soto on June 25, 2019.

Jovante Lamar Fryson II was sentenced to nine years in prison, while Amauje Jason Ferguson received a seven-year term. Tysheere Traymar Ford, who was previously sentenced, will serve twelve years for his role in the crime. All three defendants will also face three years of supervised release following their imprisonment.
