A 43-year-old man from Omaha, Nebraska, has been sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine.

Gabriel Ramirez, 43, of Omaha, Nebraska, was sentenced December 8, 2023, in federal court in Omaha for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

According to Acting United States Attorney Susan Lehr, Ramirez was involved in a significant methamphetamine trafficking operation that spanned several months.

On March 18, 2022, law enforcement conducted a controlled narcotics buy from Ramirez utilizing a confidential informant who purchased 217 grams of meth from Ramirez in the Omaha area.

On April 14, 2022, law enforcement executed a search warrant on Ramirez's South Omaha residence and vehicle and seized 3271 grams of meth, 21 grams of cocaine, and $9,140 in currency.

During a post-Miranda interview, Ramirez admitted to being a drug courier for the Sinaloa Cartel and had been receiving and selling meth for the Cartel since approximately September of 2021.

As part of his sentence, Ramirez also gave up any right or claim he may have had in $9,140 in currency seized during the investigation.

After Ramirez's release from prison, he will begin a 3-year term of supervised release.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
