Garrett McClain Jr., Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl and Methamphetamine, Louisiana 2026

NEW ORLEANS, LA - In a shocking turn of events, Garrett McClain Jr., a 24-year-old resident of Tangipahoa Parish, has been found guilty of possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and 40 grams or more of fentanyl.

The crime, which is a serious offense, was committed in violation of Title 21 U.S.C. § 841(a)(1), §841(b)(1)(A), and §841(b)(1)(B). McClain's guilty plea was made on January 29, 2026, before U.S. District Judge Barry Ashe.

According to the indictment, McClain and other individuals conspired to distribute and possess with intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine in the Tangipahoa, St. Tammany, and Washington Parishes region. Law enforcement officers attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by McClain after he was seen leaving a residence in Tickfaw, Louisiana.

However, McClain led officers on a high-speed pursuit before fleeing his vehicle on foot. He was eventually arrested and a backpack in his possession was seized and found to contain 226 grams of pure methamphetamine, 336 grams of marijuana, and 77 grams of fentanyl.

McClain now faces a mandatory minimum sentence of ten (10) years and up to life imprisonment, as well as up to a $10,000,000 fine and at least five (5) years of supervised release. His sentencing is scheduled for May 7, 2026.

The prosecution is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Stuart Theriot of the Narcotics Unit.
