George Wesley Washington, Jr., Methamphetamine Trafficking, Mississippi 2023

A federal jury in Mississippi has convicted a man of drug offenses, bringing a close to a nearly two-year-long investigation.

George Wesley Washington, Jr., 32, was found guilty of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

On March 16, 2023, Washington was in possession of over 2 kilograms of methamphetamine, a stash that would have a significant impact on the local community.

Further investigation revealed that Washington had been engaged in drug trafficking activity for at least 16 months prior to the March 16 incident.

Washington will be sentenced on October 24, 2024, and faces a minimum penalty of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life in prison.

The U.S. Attorney Todd W. Gee of the Southern District of Mississippi and Acting Special Agent in Charge Eric DeLaune of Homeland Security Investigations made the announcement.

Homeland Security Investigations and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys John Meynardie and Erica Rose prosecuted the case.

Washington's actions were a threat to the community, and this conviction serves as a reminder of the consequences of such crimes.

As a result of the conviction, Washington will face a minimum of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life in prison. A federal district court judge will determine his sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
