Heroin Trafficking Bust in Kingston, Pennsylvania

A New Jersey man, George Wormley, has been sentenced to 14 months in federal prison for his role in a heroin trafficking operation in Kingston, Pennsylvania.

According to court documents, Wormley, 37, was arrested on January 3, 2014, for possession with intent to distribute heroin. He was subsequently indicted by a grand jury on March 25, 2014, following an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Kingston Police.

On May 1, 2014, Wormley pleaded guilty to committing the offense, which led to his sentencing yesterday by U.S. District Court Judge Malachy E. Mannion.

As part of his sentence, Wormley was also ordered to be placed on supervised release for three years after serving his prison sentence and to pay a $100 special assessment.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Francis P. Sempa.

Wormley's involvement in the heroin trafficking operation was a significant blow to the local community, and his sentencing marks a major milestone in the efforts to combat the opioid epidemic in the region.

The Kingston Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are to be commended for their tireless efforts in investigating and bringing Wormley to justice.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania is committed to pursuing those who engage in illegal activities, and this sentence sends a clear message that heroin trafficking will not be tolerated in our community.
