Gun crime has reached a boiling point in the Mountain State, and the latest case to make headlines involves a Virginia man who has admitted to unlawfully possessing a firearm.

MARTINSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA – Glenn Eugene Oden, of Stephens City, Virginia, has admitted to a firearms charge, United States Attorney Bill Powell announced.

Oden, age 39, pled guilty to one count of ‘Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.’ Oden, having a prior conviction, admitted to illegally possessing a .40 caliber pistol in May 2017 in Berkeley County.

The maximum sentence for this crime is 10 years incarceration, along with a fine of up to $250,000. However, under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history of the defendant.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul T. Camilletti is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government, with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the West Virginia State Police conducting the investigation.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert W. Trumble presided over the case. Oden is scheduled to be sentenced on [insert date].
