Gregory Izear Corbin, Firearms Charges, Pennsylvania 2020

Grimy Times: A Pittsburgh, Pa. resident has been handed a lengthy prison sentence for violating federal firearms laws. Gregory Izear Corbin, 32, also known as G-World, was sentenced to 120 months imprisonment followed by three years supervised release in federal court on Thursday, according to a statement from U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton.

Court records reveal that Corbin has a history of run-ins with the law, including previous convictions for firearm, drug-dealing, terroristic threats, escape, and theft-type charges. The most recent charges stem from an incident in which Pittsburgh Police observed Corbin and another individual, Anthony White, in possession of a stolen gun on October 28, 2010. White was later sentenced to 46 months federal imprisonment on September 6, 2012.

Corbin's troubles continued on July 17, 2011, when witnesses reported that he was seen breaking into a vehicle and using a silver 9mm semi-automatic pistol to rob, shoot, and pistol whip the victim. The assault and robbery charges from that incident are scheduled for trial before Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas Judge Jill E. Rangos on March 11, 2013. Corbin was also found to be in possession of two silver pistols and ammunition at a residence where he was located on July 21, 2011.

Forensic analysis revealed that the blood on one of the pistols was matched to Corbin, with a probability of 1 in 157 X 10 to the 15th power of selecting an unrelated individual with the same DNA profile. ATF experts also determined that the three firearms and ammunition affected interstate and/or foreign commerce.

U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police for their work in investigating and prosecuting the case. Assistant United States Attorney Ross E. Lenhardt prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
