GREGORY ROBINSON, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Louisiana 2023

Grimy Times has learned that a Thibodaux man has been charged with a serious crime in federal court.

GREGORY ROBINSON, 30, is accused of violating the Federal Controlled Substances Act by possessing with intent to distribute a quantity of methamphetamine, a quantity of cocaine, and a quantity of marijuana.

According to court documents, the alleged crimes occurred on January 12, 2023, in Thibodaux, Louisiana.

The indictment charges ROBINSON with Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1), 841(b)(1)(A), 841(b)(1)(B), and 841(b)(1)(D).

If convicted, ROBINSON faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and up to life imprisonment, up to a $10,000,000 fine, and at least 5 years of supervised release as it relates to methamphetamine, a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years and up to 40 years imprisonment, up to a $5,000,000 fine, and at least 4 years of supervised release as it relates to cocaine, and up to 5 years imprisonment, up to a $250,000 fine, and at least 2 years of supervised release as it relates to marijuana.

ROBINSON must also pay a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.

U.S. Attorney Evans emphasized that the indictment is merely a charging document and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

This case was investigated by the Thibodaux Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration. The prosecution of this case is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Lynn E. Schiffman.
