Two Anchorage Men Face Life in Prison for Methamphetamine Trafficking

Anchorage, Alaska - In a shocking turn of events, two men have been arraigned in federal court on charges of drug trafficking conspiracy and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

The indictment, handed down by a grand jury, alleges that Albert Diaz Gumataotao, III, 24, and David Alan Gonzales, 54, both of Anchorage, Alaska, possessed 52 grams of pure methamphetamine on March 28, 2013.

The charges, which carry a maximum sentence of life in prison, a fine of ten million dollars, or both, were presented to the grand jury by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Erin W. Bradley.

The investigation, led by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Anchorage Police Department, has been a collaborative effort to take down those responsible for the distribution of illicit substances in the community.

Ms. Loeffler commends the hard work and dedication of the investigators and prosecutors involved in this case, saying that their efforts have sent a strong message to those involved in drug trafficking.

An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
