Burlington Man Sentenced to 200 Months for Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine
A Burlington man, Hardy Pegues III, 62, has been sentenced to 200 months in federal prison for conspiring to distribute large amounts of methamphetamine in the Burlington, Iowa area.
According to public court documents, Pegues conspired with others, including Larry Keith Knotts III, to distribute methamphetamine between January and October 2022. Knotts, 36, was also sentenced for his role in the conspiracy.
Larry Keith Knotts III was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison on January 23, 2024, for his involvement in the conspiracy.
United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa announced the sentencing of Pegues. The case was investigated by the Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force.
After completing his term of imprisonment, Pegues will be required to serve five years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
The Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force worked tirelessly to bring the perpetrators to justice, and their efforts have resulted in a significant blow to the methamphetamine trade in the Burlington area.
