WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA – A brazen crime has shaken the quiet streets of West Virginia. Hashim Hussein, a 21-year-old citizen of Kuwait, has been charged with two counts of Distribution of Cocaine Hydrochloride within 1000 Feet of Protected Location in Monongalia County.

According to authorities, Hussein, also known as 'Kuwait,' allegedly sold cocaine hydrochloride, also known as 'Coke,' in October and December 2019 near the campus of West Virginia University. This heinous crime has left many questioning the safety of our community.

Hussein faces a staggering 40 years of incarceration and a fine of up to $2,000,000 for each count. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

The FBI and Mon Metro Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, investigated this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda E. Wesley is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.

An indictment is merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

As the Grimy Times continues to investigate this story, we urge our readers to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.

Hussein's case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of drug trafficking and the importance of community involvement in keeping our streets safe.
