Hector Pabon, Heroin Distribution, Massachusetts 2014
A Springfield man was sentenced to 7 years in prison for heroin distribution, a federal crime that has plagued the city for years.
Hector Pabon, 42, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastroianni to 7 years in prison and 6 years of supervised release. In June 2015, Pabon pleaded guilty to one count of distribution and possession with intent to distribute heroin.
Pabon was arrested and charged in April 2014 for distributing heroin in Hampden County. The investigation and arrest were the result of a long-term probe by law enforcement agencies.
United States Attorney Andrew E. Lelling and Harold H. Shaw, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Boston Field Office, made the announcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Todd E. Newhouse of Lelling’s Springfield Branch Office prosecuted the case.
The sentencing marks a significant victory for law enforcement agencies in their fight against heroin distribution in the region. Heroin has been a major problem in Springfield, with many residents struggling with addiction.
Pabon’s sentence sends a strong message that heroin distribution will not be tolerated in our communities. We hope that this sentence will serve as a deterrent to others who may be considering engaging in similar activity.
We would like to thank the investigators and prosecutors who worked tirelessly to bring this case to justice. Their dedication and hard work are a testament to their commitment to keeping our communities safe.
