Helen Marie Brown, Elderly Financial Exploitation, Alabama 2023
A Westfield woman pleaded guilty to defrauding an elderly victim of more than $500,000, announced United States Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama, Sean P. Costello.
Helen Marie Brown, 54, of Westfield, pleaded guilty on June 14, 2023 to a one-count indictment charging her with elderly financial exploitation, a violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 2314.
According to the indictment, Brown used her position of trust to embezzle and misappropriate more than $500,000 from the elderly victim, who was a friend of the family.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Westfield Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael J. Whisonant prosecuted the case.
