Hussein Al Hasani, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Idaho 2020

BOISE - A Boise man is facing serious consequences after a violent incident outside a hookah bar. Hussein Al Hasani, 22, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm in a federal court on December 7, 2020.

According to court records, Al Hasani was involved in an altercation with individuals outside a hookah bar in Nampa on June 15, 2019. During the altercation, he discharged a firearm. Police later arrested Al Hasani and found him in possession of a .40 caliber, semi-automatic handgun.

Al Hasani has a prior felony conviction and is prohibited from possessing firearms.

The charge of unlawful possession of a firearm is punishable by up to ten years in prison, a maximum fine of $250,000, and up to 3 years of supervised release.

This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Boise Police Department; and Nampa Police Department.

This case was prosecuted as part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) program, which aims to reduce violent crime in communities by focusing enforcement efforts on the most violent offenders and partnering with prevention and reentry programs.

Additionally, the case is part of Project Guardian, a Department of Justice initiative to reduce gun violence and enforce federal firearms laws.
