Irene Guerrero, Meth Conspiracy, South Dakota 2022

A 37-year-old Eagle Butte woman has been charged with a serious crime.

Irene Guerrero is accused of conspiring with others to distribute and possess methamphetamine on the Cheyenne River Sioux Indian Reservation.

The alleged crime took place between February 1, 2021, and August 9, 2022, according to the indictment.

The maximum penalty upon conviction is up to 40 years in prison and/or a $5,000,000 fine, a lifetime of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

Restitution may also be ordered.

Guerrero appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on August 12, 2022, and pled not guilty to the indictment.

She was released on bond pending trial, which has been set for October 18, 2022.

The investigation is being conducted by the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force and the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan N. Dilges is prosecuting the case.

The charge is merely an accusation and Guerrero is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
